Dr. Beth Halbert, a licensed child psychologist and leading expert in parenting teenagers, will host a live town hall meeting around the topic of teenage suicide prevention. The February 7, 2012, meeting addressing Teen Life Over Suicide will also include a webcast and interactive Twitter chat. This town hall meeting is designed to help teens, parents, educators, and parenting and teen counselors improve communication and foster healthier, happier emotions and relationships. With extraordinary knowledge and understanding of how teens think and act, Dr. Beth provides teens, parents, educators, therapists, and counselors with tools and insight to strengthen their relationships, while helping teens develop a positive attitude and greater self-acceptance. Her live town hall meeting will address the difficulties of adolescence and ways to overcome them. Those attending Teen Life Over Suicide will explore the importance of listening to teens and understanding their emotions, as well as ways to use communication, play, and love to relieve stress. Dr. Beth's Teen Life Over Suicide will include principles and techniques that are addressed in her recently released book, Embracing Defiance: Helping Your Child Express Their Unique Voice While Keeping Your Sanity, and in her popular Compassionate Parenting National Teleconference Series. Through her techniques and principles, Dr. Beth shows how to respond in a positive manner to teen defiance, and as a result, open the doors to communication and understanding that can otherwise leave teens and adolescents feeling misunderstood. Instructions for February 7, 2012 Teen Life Over Suicide Day On February 7, 2012, Dr. Beth will discuss suicide prevention in a LIVE+WEBCAST Town Hall meeting at the Berkeley YMCA, which will be in coordination with a global tweet chat, #TeenLifeOverSuicide.

Testimonials: 10 Keys to Compassionate Parenting
“Dr. Beth taught me how to be compassionate with my toughest inner critic, how to stop judging my emotions giving myself permission to feel them without it "meaning" something bad or wrong about me. Since I've applied her 10 Keys in my life, I have been able to connect with EVERYONE in my life so much more. I'm not as emotionally triggered by what those closest to me feel or say.
I can understand my daughter and her emotions more and give her permission to feel, which in turn has allowed her to express her feelings to me so authentically! Dr Beth helped me make sense of all the feelings and thoughts I had that felt so crazy inside. She taught me how to get to know the emotional children within me and how to take care of me and ultimately love me. She gave me the best relationship I have ever had - the relationship and love of myself. “ Marci Tjader, CO
“Beth connects with parents in ways that help them feel good about themselves and their children. Her 10 Keys program changes how parents respond to ‘parent education.’ She creates a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that encourages participation and includes important topics such as setting limits with children, creating boundaries in families and being a ‘blended family’. She teaches that parenting starts with their ability to have empathy for themselves and for their child’s experience. Beth is a truly gifted therapist and teacher.” Kristin L. Belshaw, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist PRIVATE CLIENT TESTIMONIALS (Names withheld to maintain confidentiality) Teens “Dr. Beth is great with teenagers. This is her gift. She is Magical.”
“She gave us the tools to get along better with our children by showing us how not to react to their emotional and hormonal outbursts and pointing out what we did that set them off. She gave similar tools to our son and daughter which will help them in their relationships, not only with us but with others as well.” “She gave my son the insight to see the true consequences of his actions, which gave him tools to make good decisions for himself, not just to please or displease us.” “I wanted to tame my daughter's defiance without having her lose her wonderful spirit. We fought horribly about teenager issues, some important, some really inconsequential, that blew up into real battles. Dr. Beth helped us defuse the situation and see how much we love each other despite the fact that we are going to have to deal with lots of issues and how each of us can see the issues without adding emotion and anger.” “Dr. Beth can take the misery out of living with teenagers from both the parent and teenagers perspectives. She just “gets” teens and is very good at explaining their need to argue and explode and dissent and want the opposite of anything you suggest or want, because that’s what they are supposed to be doing at this age.” “The point is to learn to get the anger and emotion out of the situation so you can talk to each other. It’s not always easy and it will take practice to react differently than you always have to the ranting of a 16 year old, but the rewards are tremendous. Dr. Beth helped us see that there is love under that teenage emotion and anger and they want to be loved by their parents. I’ve heard “I love you Mom” from my daughter more in the last few weeks than I have in the last two years. There’s nothing better than that.” ========================== Legal Disclaimer – NO PERSONAL ADVICE This Web Site, Webcast, Twitter Chat and its Content (including any information provided by users) is for informational and entertainment purposes only and is not intended to replace or substitute for any professional psychological, clinical, financial, medical, legal, or other advice.
